Haas F1 Team Reaches Financial Independence for 2025 Season
Gene Haas's Formula 1 team has reached a significant financial milestone in 2025, operating at the budget cap without requiring additional funding from its owner for the first time since joining the grid in 2016.
Team principal Ayao Komatsu confirmed that the team's improved commercial performance and seventh-place finish in the 2024 constructors' championship have contributed to this achievement. Prize money and sponsorship revenue now fully support the team's operations.

This financial shift brings new challenges for Haas F1, particularly in managing spending within the budget cap limits. The team must adapt its mindset from previous years when underspending was the norm to now carefully monitoring expenditure to remain compliant.
Despite being the smallest team on the grid with approximately 330 personnel, Haas efficiently manages its resources through strategic partnerships. The team maintains a cost-effective structure by outsourcing components and car build operations, particularly through their relationship with Ferrari in Maranello.
Komatsu acknowledges that while this business model results in some budget cap deductions due to notional values, it remains the most efficient approach for the team's current size and capabilities. He indicates this strategy will likely continue for at least the next few years, though the team is actively working to improve operational efficiency in other areas.
This development marks a crucial turning point for Haas F1, demonstrating its evolution into a financially sustainable Formula 1 operation after nearly a decade on the grid.
