First Electric Porsche Cayman Caught Testing Before 2026 Launch
The 2026 Porsche Cayman will mark a significant shift as the brand's first all-electric version of its beloved sports car. Spotted testing on public roads, this new model maintains the iconic Cayman silhouette while introducing several EV-specific design elements.
The exterior features Taycan-inspired rectangular headlights and a familiar low bonnet line, complemented by larger air intakes in the lower bumper. The side profile now more closely resembles the 911, while the rear showcases a new full-width light bar.
While technical specifications remain under wraps, the electric Cayman is expected to share its platform with the upcoming Boxster EV. It may incorporate technology from the Mission R Concept, potentially featuring a front-mounted 435hp motor - a significant upgrade from the current model's 300hp output.

To address the additional weight of the electric powertrain, Porsche may implement an innovative "chest" style battery pack mounted in the middle of the car, mimicking the weight distribution of a mid-engine vehicle to preserve the Cayman's renowned handling characteristics.

The electric Cayman is scheduled to launch in 2026, with a possible reveal later this year. Pricing is expected to exceed the current model's £54,000 starting point. It will compete directly with the upcoming electric Alpine A110, establishing itself in the emerging electric sports car segment.
