Ferrari Wins Court Battle to Block Cardile's Early Move to Aston Martin F1
Enrico Cardile's move from Ferrari to Aston Martin as chief technical officer faces a four-month delay following a successful legal challenge by Ferrari in the Court of Modena.
The court ruled that Cardile must cease all collaboration with Aston Martin until July 18th, 2025, upholding Ferrari's non-compete clause. Ferrari argued that early collaboration would give their competitors an unfair advantage and cause irreparable harm to their team.

Cardile, who previously served as Ferrari's technical director for chassis development, was announced to be leaving Ferrari in July 2024. Aston Martin subsequently confirmed his appointment as their chief technical officer for 2025, though his start date remained uncertain.
The delay significantly impacts Aston Martin's 2026 regulation preparations, as teams began full development work in January. While Aston Martin could potentially negotiate an earlier start date with Ferrari, previous attempts have been unsuccessful.
An Aston Martin spokesperson stated this remains a legal matter between Cardile and Ferrari, declining further comment. Meanwhile, the team has welcomed former Red Bull technical expert Adrian Newey, who began his role on Monday.
