Marcus Ericsson is intensifying his preparation for the 2025 IndyCar season following his first winless campaign since 2021. After a successful stint at Chip Ganassi Racing that included four victories—including the 2022 Indianapolis 500—Ericsson's move to Andretti Global resulted in a challenging 2024 season.

Despite securing a podium at Detroit and three top-five finishes, Ericsson's 15th-place championship standing fell short of his previous three consecutive sixth-place finishes at Ganassi. The Swedish driver is using this setback as motivation for comprehensive improvement.

During the extended offseason, Ericsson has focused on physical conditioning, adding 10 pounds of muscle to handle the increased demands of the hybrid-powered cars. He's also working with a mental trainer to enhance his psychological preparation.

"I don't really believe in bad luck. I believe in preparing yourself to succeed," Ericsson told RACER. "Sometimes you need to get beaten down a little bit to reach new heights."

The six-year IndyCar veteran is particularly motivated by his winless 2024 season, viewing it as an opportunity for growth rather than a setback. Entering the second year of his two-year contract with Andretti Global, Ericsson is determined to return to victory lane through a combination of physical training and mental preparation.

"When you feel like you're physically strong, it helps you to be more mentally strong as well," Ericsson explained, emphasizing his comprehensive approach to improvement as he prepares for the 2025 season opener at St. Petersburg.
