Ethan Dotson is making waves in his first full World of Outlaws Late Models season, showing strong potential for the MD3 Rookie of the Year Award. His impressive performances at Volusia Speedway Park during the DIRTcar Sunshine Nationals, finishing fourth and 12th, have placed him tied for second in the standings.

Racing with ASD Motorsports since May, Dotson has found his comfort zone quickly. "Since the first week I started with these guys, it's just been comfortable," Dotson explains. "We all have the same goals."

His early-season success includes strong showings at the Wild West Shootout in Vado Speedway Park, securing two top-five and four top-ten finishes. He followed this with a season-best second-place finish at Needmore Speedway in a Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series event.

Dotson's experience at Volusia Speedway Park, particularly in DIRTcar UMP Modified competition, gives him an edge. He won the 2022 Reutimann Memorial and claimed three consecutive Feature wins during DIRTcar Nationals the following February. This track familiarity could prove crucial in his Late Model success.

Looking ahead, Dotson remains focused on consistency and improvement. "Hopefully we can come back [to Volusia] next week and just be consistent," he says. "I've just got to be a little bit better later in the night. Whenever the track changes, it's just got to be a little bit better."

The World of Outlaws Late Models season continues at Volusia Speedway Park during the final three nights of Federated Auto Parts DIRTcar Nationals (Feb. 13-15), where Dotson aims to secure his first World of Outlaws victory.
