The Springfield, IL native sees this move as a natural progression in his racing career. "I'm more well-rounded than I was two and a half years ago," McDermand reflects, crediting his experience across diverse tracks for his development as a driver.

McDermand recently demonstrated his team management capabilities at the NOS Energy Drink Chili Bowl Nationals, fielding three cars for himself, NASCAR Xfinity Series competitor Josh Bilicki, and development driver Steven Snyder Jr.

His racing journey includes successful stints with Mounce/Stout Motorsports (2022-2023), where he secured seven Feature wins. In 2024, with support from Mounce/Stout, he achieved a career-best third-place finish in the Xtreme Outlaw points standings and claimed victory at Tulsa Speedway.

For 2025, McDermand has upgraded to a Toyota engine package, aiming for improved reliability. The season kicks off at Farmer City Raceway for the World of Outlaws Illini 100, April 10-12, with McDermand particularly excited about competing near his Illinois home at venues including Farmer City Raceway, Spoon River Speedway, Coles County Speedway, and Highland Speedway.
