Matthew Larson has already shown promise, securing a fifth-place finish in the Crate Racin' USA Late Models during the World Short Track Championship at Charlotte. However, Brent isn't ready to hand over the reins just yet, with several major races on the horizon.
The 2025 schedule features significant events in Larson's home territory, including:
- $75,000-to-win Dairyland Showdown at Mississippi Thunder Speedway
- $50,000-to-win NAPA Auto Parts Gopher 50 at Deer Creek Speedway
- $100,000-to-win USA Nationals at Cedar Lake Speedway (where Larson is a five-time track champion)
Coming off a 2024 season with six top 10 finishes and one top five finish at Thunderhill Raceway, Larson aims to improve his 12th-place points standing. He's particularly focused on addressing steering issues and car balance before the season opener at Volusia Speedway Park during DIRTcar Sunshine Nationals, January 23-25.
"We're still having fun doing this," Larson said. "I'm hoping to transfer my son into where I'm at someday, and I feel like the best way to do that is to keep going for another year or two until he's ready."
