
Big Diamond Speedway's 53rd Season Opener: History Awaits New Winner
Big Diamond Speedway's rich history began on August 25, 1972, when Earl "Drick" Hendricks won the first-ever Modified feature race. Since then, 35 different drivers have claimed opening day victories at this prestigious Schuylkill County dirt oval.

Championship Success: Thirteen times has the Opening Day winner gone on to win the track championship in the same season. VonDohren leads with three such accomplishments (2012, 2013, 2019), followed by Doug Hoffman (1988, 2004), Howard (1992, 1998), and Strunk (1997, 2007). Single-season accomplishments include Paul Lotier (1979), Kenny Brightbill (1991), Keith Hoffman (2000), and Timmy Buckwalter (2021).
