After winning the GTD class at the 2024 Rolex 24 At Daytona, Canadian team AWA has announced the retirement of their victorious Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R chassis.

A new chassis, originally planned for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, will now make its debut at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring next month. This chassis will compete in the remainder of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. The team will receive another new chassis from Pratt Miller Motorsports and General Motors specifically for their Le Mans debut, which they secured after driver Orey Fidani won the 2024 IMSA Bob Akin Award.

The Daytona victory marked a significant milestone for AWA, following their focused development throughout 2024. After consolidating to a single car and emphasizing reliability, the team achieved consistent improvements, including a fifth-place finish at Road America. Race engineer Charlie Ping and data engineer Baptiste Viala played crucial roles in the team's performance optimization during the off-season.

The winning driver lineup of Fidani, Matt Bell, Lars Kern, and Marvin Kirchhöfer benefited from extensive pre-season preparation. The team's dedication to performance enhancement since the Motul Petit Le Mans in October paid off with their historic victory.
