Aston Martin's 2025 Car to Benefit from Newey's Technical Input While Developing 2026 Design
Formula 1's renowned design expert Adrian Newey will contribute to both Aston Martin's 2025 and 2026 car development programs as he begins his new role with the team in March.
Team principal Andy Cowell confirmed that Newey, who joins from Red Bull Racing, will immediately impact the current year's car while focusing on the crucial 2026 regulations change.
"Everybody's super excited to work with Adrian," said Cowell. "His record speaks for itself. We're looking forward to welcoming him on-site and getting stuck into creating a 2026 car while helping improve the 2025 car."

The team has implemented organizational changes to optimize efficiency, creating separate focuses for trackside operations and factory development. This structure allows dedicated teams to concentrate on current and future projects without compromising either.
Cowell emphasized their approach to development: "If you increase your development rate, you overtake your opponents. And if you keep on improving your development rate, you stay ahead of your opponents."
Newey, who spent nearly two decades at Red Bull, maintains a measured approach to his new role: "The first target really is to get to know everybody here, understand how everybody works, and try to integrate myself with everybody. It's talking to the drivers, talking to my fellow engineers, trying to bounce ideas off them. Getting that sort of creative flow going."
The team's restructuring and Newey's arrival signal Aston Martin's commitment to becoming a leading force in Formula 1, with a clear focus on both immediate performance gains and long-term success under the 2026 regulations.
