The decision to bypass Daytona's demanding 24-hour race in favor of Sebring's shorter but more challenging event follows the car's initial testing phase. The Valkyrie will first appear in competition at the FIA World Endurance Championship opener in Qatar in late February.
The Heart of Racing partnership recently conducted its first IMSA-sanctioned test at Daytona, where drivers Roman de Angelis, Ross Gunn, and Alex Riberas evaluated the V12-powered prototype. During the test, which included benchmarking against various WeatherTech Championship classes, the LMH-regulation Valkyrie ran alongside LMDh vehicles from Acura, BMW, Lamborghini, and Porsche.
In the two-day test session, the Valkyrie recorded a best lap time of 1m37.169s on Daytona's 3.5-mile infield road course, finishing 1.461s behind the leading Acura Meyer Shank Racing ARX-06's time of 1m35.708s.
