Alex Dunne named McLaren Formula E reserve and development driver for 2025

British 17-year-old racer Alex Dunne joins NEOM McLaren as Formula E reserve and development driver for the 2025 season, replacing Taylor Barnard who moved to a race seat.

Dunne joins through McLaren's driver development program, following other junior drivers like Ugo Ugochukwu, Bianca Bustamante, and Ella Lloyd who previously tested for the team.

The young driver brings impressive credentials, including:

  • FIA Formula 3 podium finish in 2024
  • Runner-up in 2023 GB3 championship with three wins
  • 2022 British Formula 4 champion with 11 victories
  • Second place in 2022 Italian F4 championship
  • Two wins in UAE F4 championship

"Working with NEOM McLaren as part of my experience in the McLaren Driver Development program is an excellent opportunity to hone my skills," said Dunne. "I'm looking forward to doing what I can to support the team and learn as much as possible."

Team Principal Ian James praised Dunne's talent and expressed confidence in his ability to add value to the team while gaining valuable experience in Formula E.
