Alan Johnson and Jimmy Horton Join EMPA Hall of Fame Class of 2025
Alan Johnson, Jimmy Horton III, and other motorsports legends have been selected for induction into the prestigious Eastern Motorsport Press Association (EMPA) Hall of Fame class of 2025. The announcement comes ahead of the 52nd EMPA Convention, scheduled for January 10-13 at the Holiday Inn in Wilkes-Barre, PA.

The 2025 Hall of Fame inductees include:
- Mark 'Bones' Bourcier: Distinguished motorsports journalist with extensive work in Speedway Scene, Speed Sport, and author of numerous motorsports books
- Jimmy Horton III: Dirt Modified champion with 466 career wins across multiple racing divisions
- Alan Johnson: Veteran racer with 439 wins at 39 different tracks and two-time EMPA Richie Evans Memorial Northeast Dirt Driver of the Year
- Steve Park: Northeast Modified champion who successfully transitioned to NASCAR Cup Series
- Don 'The Snake' Prudhomme: Four-time NHRA Funny Car champion
- Sammy Swindell: Three-time World of Outlaws champion with 394 A-main victories
Additional award recipients for 2024-2025 include:
- Richie Evans Memorial Northeast Driver of the Year: Justin Bonsignore (asphalt) and Mat Williamson (dirt)
- Al Holbert Memorial National Driver of the Year: Kyle Larson (asphalt) and David Gravel (dirt)
- John Blewett III Young Gun Award: Corey Day
- Chris Economaki Memorial Newsmaker: Dave Blaney
- Junie Donlavey Memorial Spirit of the Sport: Ryan Flores
- Promotional Effort of the Year: Doug Rose
The convention will feature a "Salute to the Champions" on Friday evening, followed by press conferences and workshops on Saturday. Paul Page, "Voice of The 500," will deliver the keynote address before the Hall of Fame dinner and awards ceremony.
Founded in 1969, EMPA represents professional motorsports media members and receives support from major industry partners including Dover Motor Speedway, Pocono Raceway, and various automotive businesses.
