2026 Mercedes GLB: Revamped Seven-Seater Maintains Boxy Design, Adds Hybrid and Electric Power
The next-generation Mercedes GLB is set to launch with a fresh design and advanced powertrain options, maintaining its unique position as a compact seven-seat SUV in Mercedes' lineup.
Recent spy shots reveal the GLB will retain its distinctive boxy silhouette while incorporating modern design elements. Notable updates include new rectangular headlights featuring Mercedes' signature three-pointed star daytime running lights, a more rounded front bumper, and redesigned upright taillights.

The GLB will share its platform with the upcoming CLA and offer two powertrain options:
- A mild-hybrid system combining a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with a 48-volt electrical system
- An all-electric version featuring Mercedes' new high-density battery technology

The electric GLB is expected to achieve over 400 miles of range, slightly less than the CLA's projected 460 miles due to its larger size and less aerodynamic shape.

While the mild-hybrid system won't offer pure electric driving in traffic like a full hybrid, it will provide improved efficiency through its small battery and gearbox-mounted motor.
The new Mercedes GLB is scheduled for reveal in late 2025, with sales beginning in 2026, following the launch of the new CLA in mid-2025.
